Pallmer
Bridging the gap between classical and indie music, Pallmer play shows that flow between compositions and their cello and viola based songwriting, creating ethereal soundscapes that offer moments of contentment, melancholy, and introspection. Based in Fredericton, NB, Pallmer creates lush, looped string arrangements that cradle poetic, sensitive lyrics.
Claude Debussy - String Quartet
Here's the first movement of Claude Debussy's string quartet in D minor. You'll hear french impressionist textures flowing together with exotic folk melodies. The Happy Shepherd Quartet is an ensemble I've been a part of for over a year now, and it's been great fun to play with this group. Check out the quartet's website here.
Derek Charke - Sepia Fragments
This is the esteemed "Wood and Wire" string quartet playing a piece by Canadian composer Derek Charke. The piece is dedicated to the St. Laurence String Quartet on their 20th anniversary. The body of the piece contains quotes from important or memorable recordings or tours done by the St. Laurence quartet, and is sandwiched between two beautiful Celtic sections. Wood and Wire played this for several outreach performances.
