Well, doctoral auditions are in the books. I’ll be going to Florida State next year to work with some great people. Now that I’ve had some time to rest, I’d like to share some of the insights I’ve gained from testing some sport psychology tactics in doctoral auditions. So those are some of the things I've learned from this set of auditions. I’m always a little hesitant to post these reflections, because I realize some of these lessons are from making some pretty rookie mistakes. It’s also humbling to know that my mental game isn’t anywhere near air tight yet. Having said that, I will also say that this has been one of the most educational endeavors of my life. Honing in on a goal, building a recital and audition without being in school, and deliberately developing my mental game has been trying, thrilling, and deeply enlightening.
